One-on-One Student Training Programs

Flexible training for Upper Elementary School, Middle School and High School Students

The Visual LEAP provides one-on-one training in visual thinking for students age 10 through 99. We customize programs to meet each student ’s unique academic needs. Programs offer a one-to-one student to trainer ratio. Introductory programs are 6 sessions. We optimally schedule sessions twice per week for three weeks. Complimentary software (a $75 value) is included at no cost for all first time clients.

The Visual LEAP training in visual thinking will:
  • Teach the learner visual thinking strategies to improve achievement and make schoolwork projects more manageable.
  • Teach participants how to use visual thinking software.
  • Create study plans that target where and how to use these methods in the areas most needed.
  • Provide students with the skill and understanding to apply these strategies independently.

Because we customize each program for each client, the topics below are guidelines and may change based on the needs of the client.

Program Details and Pricing

First time clients:
First time clients are eligible for Scholastic LEAP Jr. and Scholastic LEAP Sr. introductory visual learning programs. New clients receive one (1) complimentary copy of visual learning software (value $75) at no charge.

Program cost for the Scholastic LEAP Jr. and Scholastic LEAP Sr. is $660 (including software). Price valid through March 31, 2008. The Visual Leap accepts payment by check, cash, or convenient online payment. You may download enrollment forms and pay online through our store.

Returning clients:
The Visual Leap creates creates flexible programs for returning clients. Typically, returning clients request assistance with a specific project or event such as: long-term multi-faceted projects, managing multiple deadlines, interview preparation, college essays, exam review, thesis research, professional review preparation, meeting planning, job interviews. Cost per 50 minute session is $90. (Online payment is not yet enabled for single sessions.)

Elementary School (3 th through 6 th grade)

Program:

The Scholastic LEAP Jr. SM

   

Duration:

This program consists of 6 instructional sessions conducted twice per week for three weeks. The first and last instructional sessions of the program are 75 minutes. Other instructional sessions are 50 minutes.
   

Skills:

The student will be able to create elementary mind maps, concept maps and webs on many school subjects. S/he will become comfortable using visual thinking software. The student will understand the concept of a hierarchy of information within an idea, and will be able to diagram ideas accordingly.

 

 

Content:

Organizing ideas, brainstorming, writing sentences and paragraphs, mastering vocabulary, reading comprehension, working with patterns and ideas, note taking, test preparation, managing school projects.

 

 

Software:

Kidspiration® or Inspiration® software (Included at no additinal charge for first time clients (a $75 value))

 

 

Follow-up:

An evaluation based on the portfolio of work created during the program, including suggestions for further areas of visual thinking integration for scholastic achievement. Two follow-up phone calls to the client placed at approximately one-month intervals after program completion.

Program:

The Scholastic LEAP Sr. SM

   

Duration:

This program consists of 6 instructional sessions conducted twice per week for three weeks. The first and last instructional sessions of the program are 75 minutes. Other instructional sessions are 50 minutes.
   

Skills:

The student will be able to create sophisticated mind maps, concept maps and webs for use with any scholastic, extracurricular or personal topic. S/he will gain a high level of comfort using visual thinking software and be able to use

advanced features. The learner will be able to apply the concept of diagramming ideas for studying and completing complex tasks.

 

 

Content:

Academic: Brainstorming and refining academic ideas, writing, developing oral presentations, critical thinking, outlining and research, note taking, test preparation, managing long-term projects, college essay preparation.

 

Personal: Managing responsibilities, goal-setting, creating routines, decision-making and time management.

 

Software:

Inspiration® software (Included at no additinal charge for first time clients (a $75 value))

 

 

Follow-up:
