The Scholastic LEAP Jr. SM |
Duration: |
This program consists of 6 instructional sessions conducted twice per week for three weeks. The first and last instructional sessions of the program are 75 minutes. Other instructional sessions are 50 minutes. |
Skills: |
The student will be able to create elementary mind maps, concept maps and webs on many school subjects. S/he will become comfortable using visual thinking software. The student will understand the concept of a hierarchy of information within an idea, and will be able to diagram ideas accordingly. |

Content: |
Organizing ideas, brainstorming, writing sentences and paragraphs, mastering vocabulary, reading comprehension, working with patterns and ideas, note taking, test preparation, managing school projects. |

Kidspiration® or Inspiration® software (Included at no additinal charge for first time clients (a $75 value)) |

Follow-up: |
An evaluation based on the portfolio of work created during the program, including suggestions for further areas of visual thinking integration for scholastic achievement. Two follow-up phone calls to the client placed at approximately one-month intervals after program completion. |

The student will be able to create sophisticated mind maps, concept maps and webs for use with any scholastic, extracurricular or personal topic. S/he will gain a high level of comfort using visual thinking software and be able to use advanced features. The learner will be able to apply the concept of diagramming ideas for studying and completing complex tasks. |

Academic: Brainstorming and refining academic ideas, writing, developing oral presentations, critical thinking, outlining and research, note taking, test preparation, managing long-term projects, college essay preparation. |

Personal: Managing responsibilities, goal-setting, creating routines, decision-making and time management.
